A jury of 70 scientists from all over the world recognizes every 2 years an individual researcher for her/his contributions to the field of Pharmaceutics, Biopharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology. In was created in 1986 by Association de Pharmacie Galénique Industrielle (APGI).  

A large variety of topics is covered: from basic to applied pharmaceutical research, including drug delivery, dosage form manufacturing and characterization, bioavailability enhancement, process optimization, poorly soluble drugs, and biopharmaceuticals. Maurice-Marie Janot was a French chemist focused on natural products and biological chemistry. He was once nominated for Nobel Prize in chemistry in 1957.
