Doktorandentag is celebrated every semester where doctoral students present their research in front of the jury and their colleagues, and only one takes the prize home.

With Transire Bio, Nevena and David Klein Cerrejon aim to enable the painless delivery of injectable drugs.

Remarkable theses earn the silver ETH Medal, a distinction granted to just 8% of all departmental doctoral theses - a mark of their exceptional quality.  

This award was presented by Bioconjugate Chemistry and the ACS Division of Polymeric Materials: Science and Engineering. It recognizes important contributions at the interface between synthetic and biological worlds.

Our recent PhD recipient Dr. Nevena Paunovic has been granted an award for her doctoral thesis “Development of biomedical Inks for Light-Based 3D Printing of Biodegradable Non-Vascular stents”  

On February 23d Nevena had the chance to pitch about painless peptide delivery among other 50 top startups!

We are proud to announce this award for our doctoral student Nevena Paunovic! Pioneer Fellowships are awarded for a period of 18 months and they support ETH graduates who are developing highly innovative products.  

Congratulations to our doctoral student David! Merck Sharp and Dohme Graduate Research Advances in Delivery Sciences awarded him for his work on buccal delivery of biopharmaceuticals in Canada, while Pharmaceutical Society Zurich sponsored the prize in Switzerland. In addition, the project won a runner-up prize at MaP Graduate Symposium 2022.

The Controlled Release Society's announced Samyang Award in honor of Sung Wan Kim, recognizing Prof. Jean-Christophe Leroux for his outstanding contributions during past 10 years.

We are proud to announce 2 nominations for Spark Award 2022! Diana Evstafeva lead the discovery of treatment for hepatic encephalopathy and urea cycle disorders, while David Klein fabricated a mucosal suction patch for buccal drug delivery.   

Congratulations to prof. Leroux for winning this award for the 6th time! Jean-Christophe Leroux ranks in the top 1% by citations in Pharmacology and Toxicology according to Web of Science.

Congratulations to our doctoral student Silvana! She successfully developed a model vaccine that induced T-cells response in vitro and in vivo models. Activating patient's own immune system can be exploited in therapeutic cancer vaccination and other diseases.

We are very proud to announce another award for prof. Leroux! This time is about fostering entrepreneurship at the entire department of Chemistry and Applied Biosciences (D-CHAB). The first award to recognize ETH professors for their outstanding efforts to promote entrepreneurship among students and researchers.    

Human microbiome is famously known for its benefits to our health, however few bacteria survive the manufacturing process. Fatma is working on a novel approach to improve bacterial survival by encapsulating aqueous suspensions of live bacteria inside a functional composite capsule.

Our postdoctoral fellow, Dr Nicole Zoratto, will work on the development of the versatile microsampling device to collect the blood with minimal invasiveness for point-of-care tests. This project is part of  Postdoctoral Excellence Programme (PEP), an  initiative of Botnar Research Centre for Child Health (BRCCH).  

The Grand Prix de l`Académie nationale de Pharmacie is awarded to pharmacists under 60 who set an example through the quality of their work and achievements in their professional lives.

Professor Leroux received an Innovation Award in R&D presented by the Faculty of Pharmacy, at University of Montreal. He was one of the six laureates who distinguished for the quality of the innovations achieved during their professional practice.

The calcification of blood vessels and other soft tissues is problematic. Researchers at ETH Zurich and ETH spin-​off Inositec have discovered a substance that prevents vascular calcification.

Prof. Leroux talks about innovation, the startups that came out of his lab, and much more in an interview with Investiere.ch.

Kategorie «Start-ups» Inositec AG, Zürich Die Inositec AG  ist ein Biotech-Spin-off der ETH Zürich, welches innovative Medi­kamente basierend auf Inositolphosphat, einem natürlichen Vermittler mit viel­fältigen Zellfunktionen, entwickelt. Prof. Leroux's research ranks this year again among the top 1% of most cited researcher in his field by Clarivate Analytics, earning the mark of exceptional impact.  

We congratulate Irene Pereira de Sousa for winning the Poster Award at the CRS Italy Chapter Workshop 2017 in Salerno, Italy. Title of the poster: Oral treatment of phenylketonuria: a microparticulate-based formulation.

Since September 2016, she has been looking for new ways to treat the congenital metabolic disorder phenylketonuria as postdoc in ETH Professor Jean-Christophe Leroux’s research group.

Funding brings resources to advance lead candidate VS-01 to first-in-human study and transform the care of patients with rare and life-threatening liver diseases.

Prof. Leroux received the 2016 "Lipid-Based Drug Delivery Outstanding Research Award" from the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) for his contributions to the application of lipid excipients in development of novel and effective drug delivery systems.

Dr. Vincent Forster mit der Firma Versantis (ehemaliges Mitglieder der Forschungsgruppe von Prof. Leroux) erhält 2016 den Pfizer Forschungspreis.

Dr. Mattias Ivarsson, Cofounder of Inositec AG and former member of Prof. Leroux's Drug Formulation & Delivery research group, is listed in FORBES as one of the 30 under 30  persons with his non-antibiotic drug candidates that don't promote drug-resistant strains.
